The Aeolian Islands are seven volcanic islands off Sicily’s northern coast. A villa holiday here means time by the sea, days exploring by boat and the pleasure of returning to your own island retreat.
Discover our handpicked luxury villas in the Aeolian Islands, with homes on Filicudi, Alicudi and Panarea. Explore holiday rentals with sea-view terraces and inviting outdoor spaces, where breakfast can stretch into the morning and dinner becomes part of the evening’s pleasure.
Choose a peaceful setting for time together, or a home closer to village restaurants and life by the waterfront. Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family or with friends, find the island and villa that suit the holiday you have in mind.
Start with the island that matches the way you want to spend your days. Our villas are on Filicudi, Alicudi and Panarea; each offers a different balance of tranquillity, village life and access.

Choose Filicudi for swimming, boat outings and unhurried time at your villa. It is the focus of our Aeolian collection, with homes in different settings across the island.
Pecorini a Mare is a useful reference if you enjoy being near the waterfront and places to eat. Filicudi Seaview Villa, for example, has a sea-view terrace and is described as a five-minute walk from Pecorini village.
Compare the exact location: a hillside outlook, a village setting and an easy route to the water offer different advantages. Ask about paths, steps and transport from the port.

Choose Alicudi when peace and time outdoors are your priorities. Its steep landscape, stone paths and small waterfront make the island particularly distinctive.
Days can revolve around swimming, reading and dinner with a view. The journey between the port and your house is part of daily life: check the walking time, steps and luggage arrangements before choosing.
Alicudi suits guests comfortable getting around on foot. If anyone in your group finds steep paths difficult, ask us to assess the access to a specific home.

Choose Panarea if you want sea views alongside restaurants and summer social life. It can suit guests who enjoy a day on the water followed by an evening out.
Our selection includes Panarea Seafront Villa, with a terrace overlooking the sea. Compare the route to the village and swimming spots when choosing your home.
Location matters for privacy and quiet. Check the distance from busy waterfront areas and how you will get back to the villa after dinner.
Choose a home around the way your group will live in it. A shaded terrace, comfortable bedrooms and convenient access can make a real difference to an island holiday.
Look for shade, outdoor dining space and seating for everyone. Check air conditioning in the bedrooms you will use and whether the kitchen and terraces are exclusively for your group.
A sea view does not mean direct beach access. Check the route to a suitable swimming spot, including steps, slopes and whether the shore is rocky or pebbly.
Compare bedroom arrangements, stairs and terrace edges, along with the daily journey to the sea. Tell us your children’s ages so we can help assess which homes suit your family.
For a romantic stay, consider privacy, the terrace and the walk to dinner. For friends sharing a villa, compare bathrooms, bedroom access and space to eat together.
Consider May and June for walks, time on the terrace and coastal outings. Confirm seasonal restaurant and boat services for your dates.
July and August suit a holiday centred on the sea. Prioritise shade and bedroom comfort, and arrange popular restaurants and boat outings ahead.
Consider September for a later summer stay. Outside peak season, check what will be open and allow flexibility: weather and sea conditions can affect your plans.
Leave space for simple days near your villa. Swimming, a waterfront lunch and an afternoon on the terrace can be as rewarding as a full excursion.
On Filicudi, consider a boat outing towards La Canna and the Grotta del Bue Marino, or a walk to the prehistoric settlement at Capo Graziano. Around Panarea, the surrounding islets offer another reason to explore by boat. On Alicudi, enjoy the shoreline and choose walks suited to your group.
The islands form the UNESCO-listed Aeolian Islands, recognised for their volcanic geology. Lipari, Salina, Vulcano and Stromboli add further possibilities for excursions or a longer itinerary.
Plan outings around your base and local conditions. Confirm boat routes and return arrangements before setting off. For visits involving active volcanic areas, follow current local guidance and access restrictions.
Make room for meals that take their time. Enjoy breakfast outside, seafood by the water or a relaxed dinner at home.
Look for island capers, fresh fish and pane cunzato, bread dressed with olive oil and local ingredients. Try granita, a frozen Sicilian speciality, and Malvasia delle Lipari, the islands’ well-known sweet wine.
Check the kitchen facilities and nearby food shops if you plan to cook. For housekeeping or a private chef, ask about availability for your chosen home and dates, what the service includes and any additional cost.
Plan the journey all the way to the villa. Coordinate your arrival with the sea connection, then confirm the route from the port, any luggage help and check-in arrangements.
Check the operator’s current hydrofoil timetables for your island and travel dates. Allow time between connections and discuss a suitable buffer before your return flight.
For daily life, ask about walking distances to shops and restaurants, local transport and any vehicle restrictions. A car is not a useful default for every island stay.
For a week, one island can be a rewarding base. Choose a few outings rather than trying to visit all seven. For a longer trip, consider combining your island stay with one of our Sicily villas.
Filicudi suits guests looking for sea views, village life and boat outings. Alicudi suits those who value quiet and are comfortable with steep paths. Panarea suits guests who want island scenery and a livelier summer atmosphere. Compare the location of the individual villa as well as the island.
They can be, with a suitable home and itinerary. Check bedroom layout, terrace edges, steps and swimming access. Share your children’s ages and any mobility needs with us before choosing.
A seafront position does not establish private beach access. Read the property details and ask how you reach the water, what the shore is like and where your group can comfortably swim.
Check each property’s listed facilities. If a pool is essential, you can also compare our Sicily villas with pools. Private chefs and housekeeping depend on the home, island and dates; confirm availability and costs before booking.
Choose excursions around your base, the current timetable and sea conditions. Seeing every island can involve substantial time travelling. For a relaxed villa holiday, concentrate on your chosen island and a few well-planned outings.
Rates vary by property, season, group size and services. Compare the prices on the villa cards, then check availability for your dates and the total cost, including cleaning and any extras.
Ferry connection This is the one that catches people out. Hydrofoils from Milazzo take one to two hours to Lipari and Salina, longer to Filicudi and Alicudi — and the last sailing to the outer islands leaves in the early afternoon. Land at Catania after about 2pm and you will be sleeping in Milazzo, not on the island. Book a morning flight.
Fontanarossa Recommended
Then the hydrofoil from Milazzo. The usual and most reliable route.
Falcone Borsellino
A longer transfer to the port, but sometimes the fares justify it.
Capodichino
In high summer a direct hydrofoil runs from Naples to the islands. Slow, but it skips Sicily altogether.
Local knowledge Leave the car on the mainland. On Filicudi, Alicudi and Panarea they are restricted or simply pointless.
Journey times are approximate and vary according to the villa location, traffic and local road conditions. Flight routes: Summer 2026. Routes are the one thing here that changes every year, which is why they carry a date and the drive times do not.
