“An authentic Italian Medieval castle rising of a rock of white and pink limestone between the art cities of Urbino, Assisi and Gubbio. Outstanding spa with indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi and sauna”.

The Grand Medieval Castle is located in Le Marche, at the border of Tuscany and Umbria, near the art cities of Urbino, Assisi and Gubbio. It dates back to the eleventh century A.D. and belonged to a prominent Ghibelline family (the faction supporting the Holy Roman Emperor during the Middle Ages). The castle rises on a rock of white and pink limestone (417 mt above sea level) dominating the valley of the river Candigliano, and offers a jaw-dropping 360° view over forested hills. Completely restored in 2008, the Castle of Naro is today a high-end holiday rental, offering guests a truly exclusive experience of Italian history and beauty.

Interiors

The structure consists of three blocks: the castle, the outpost and the guest quarters. The castle is on three floors. On the ground floor you will find the restaurant hall, up to 24 people, with TV; the more intimate dining room, up 10 people, with fireplace, TV, pieces of antique furniture, professional coffee machine and refrigerated wine cellar (the wine cellar does not provide wines for tasting, but the cellar can be used to organize tastings); and the professional steel kitchen, fully equipped (even featuring a chiller for fish). From this floor you have access to the splendid inner courtyard.

On the first floor is the elegant lobby, with leather sofa, TV, round table with chairs and piano. Near it is the library, with leather sofas and reading lamps. From this space you have access to the exterior walkway, offering unforgettable views.

On the same floor there are three outstanding suites, each with cable TV and en-suite bathroom (where you will find hair-dryers). The “Time Chamber”, characterized by vaulted ceiling with angular shells, takes the name from the fresco representing “Father Time”. The majestic en-suite bathroom features another fresco, the “Baptism of Saint John”, and chromotherapy shower. This suite has a private living room, with kitchenette. The second bedroom of this floor, the luxurious “Sant’Andrea Suite”, is decorated with a fresco dedicated to the “Call of Saint Andrew” and offers a cable TV, mini-bar and velvet armchairs; the en-suite bathroom has a fabulous emotional shower with chromotherapy. The third suite is called the “Sky Chamber” from the fresco on the ceiling that gives the space a dreamy atmosphere; furnished with a precious Renaissance cabinet and a romantic rocking chair, it has cable TV, mini-bar and en-suite bathroom with shower.

The second block of the structure is the outpost of the castle. Here you will find the Chapel Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, the big meeting room (up to 100 people) with LCD screen and directional lights and the spa with sauna and turkish bath. This pleasant space also features a relaxation area with chaise longue, a dressing room and bathrooms.

The third block of the castle, the guest quarters, has a fine wine cellar and three double bedrooms, called “Sentinels”. Two bedrooms have double beds, one twin beds. Each room has cable TV, mini-bar and en-suite bathroom with shower. The fascinating wine cellar is furnished with two traditional wooden tables with chairs for a capacity of 15 people, and is intended for authentic wine tasting experiences.

In the middle of the structure is the second spa area, with swimming pool with Jacuzzi and relaxing area.

Important: the mini-bars in the rooms are not supplied with drinks.

Exteriors

Surrounded by hectares of unspoiled nature, the Castle of Naro features several beautiful gardens and courtyards to enjoy. Protected by the fortified walls, the inner courtyard of the castle has an idyllic atmosphere. If you want to enjoy the outstanding view, you’d better stroll along the walkway along the walls of the castle.

Moreover, around the castle you will find three gardens featuring soft lawns, for a total surface of 800 sqm. One of these gardens is called the “Belvedere” for the beauty of the view you can enjoy from here.

Connected to the Castle of Naro, you will see archaeological excavations, open to guests during their stay. This historical works are intended to bring to light the life that took place around the castle in the Middle Ages.

Location

The castle of Naro rises in a strategic position at the border of Le Marche, Tuscany and Umbria, not far from Emilia Romagna. This idyllic area is called Montefeltro and features amazing art cities such as Urbino, a UNESCO site and home to the world-renowned Rafael. The town will be celebrating the 500th anniversary of his death in 2020. Other art cities worth visiting include Gubbio, Fano and Pesaro. The Adriatic coast with its sandy beaches is just an hour’s drive. The Umbrian art cities of Assisi and Perugia, with their cultural treasures, are classic destinations for a day trip from the property, as well as Florence, located 180 km from the castle (2h 30m drive).
