Filicudi Eco Lodge | Sicily
“Possibly the most fascinating villa of the Aeolian Islands, in the abandoned village of Zucco Grande. Not for everybody, but those who fall in love with it, fall hard.”
Rustic yet refined interiors characterize the Aeolian Islands eco lodge. The living room features a beautiful stone fireplace and sofa beds upholstered in batik fabric. The living room leads directly to the kitchen: fully equipped to prepare a complete meal. Additionally on the other side of the living room, the bright and spacious bedroom features a king size bed. The bathroom is one of the highlights of this property and features a shower carved in stone. A few meters from the house lies a guest bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.
The house exhibits completely renovations. However it fully honours the historical and natural environment in which it is immersed. It has curved stone walls, shaped by hand, and like all the traditional Filicudi villas, it enjoys a splendid portico supported by columns that overlooks the Mediterranean. This patio area also features an outdoor dining set up and a hammock. Nearby there is a scenic overlook, perfect for a sunset picnic.
This Aeolian Islands eco lodge is, without a doubt, one of the most unique properties in all the archipelago. It sits on the island of Filicudi, in the secluded village of Zucco Grande, in a stunning panoramic position, and is accessible only on foot, through a scenic path of about 25 minutes (for heavy loads you can book a mule). On this side of the island there is no electricity and no plumbing; nevertheless the house has all the comforts thanks to solar panels and millennial collection of rainwater. Wind energy provides power to the hot showers, music, and lights. You are living in a wonderful off grid ECO system.
The position of this Aeolian Islands eco lodge is truly unparalleled: overlooking both the sea and the scenic Filicudi mountain. For the more active among our guests, a steep path at the foot of the property (about 30 minutes walk) leads down to the sea, where the water is crystal clear and the atmosphere reminiscent of a deserted island. More than just a house, this is an experience. Not for everybody – but the adventurous will fall madly in love.
