Castello di Reschio Delle suore | Umbria
“Three buildings gathered around a mulberry tree courtyard, surrounded by olive terraces, an infinity pool and the rolling Umbria countryside.”
Once a convent by the name of ‘House of Sisters’, this collection of three properties has been thoroughly restored and transformed into a bright, modern take on a rustic estate.
Comprised of a main house and two guest houses, this Umbria design villa sleeps up to twelve guests across its total 752 square meters of living space. The main house offers four of these rooms, whilst the other two are shared between the guest houses. In the main house, you will find a grand master suite on the first floor. This features an en-suite bathroom, a dressing area and a private study from which a staircase leads down to the garden. In addition to this there are two double bedrooms as well as one twin room, all offering ensuite bathrooms with showers. Each of the bedrooms has been carefully curated to exude its own character whilst staying in line with the overall style of the villa.
There are two further bathrooms in the main house. The first is functional as a guest bathroom, whereas the second is to be found in the pool room, which can be accessed via the outdoor lounge area.
On the ground floor of the main house you will find an exquisitely refined landing, lounge area, dining space and a beautiful kitchen. Undercurrents of deep mahogany, copper and olive green through provide a soft contrast to the white walls, and soft furnishings, cultivating a fresh yet warm ambiance that echoes the villa’s outdoor surroundings. Natural light floods the spaces via large windows, while sliding glass doors allow guests to split up the dining and lounge as desired.
The lounge is imbued with a sense of modern comfort, with plush furnishings, carefully-toned finishes and a cozy fireplace. This space also features a grand piano, a delightfully vintage piece around which to gather with friends and family. For a more modern form of entertainment, guests are invited into the spacious landing and TV area.
The wood of the dining table retains the rustic feel of the property, while its copper chandelier and vases, amongst other finishes, pull its industrial-chic firmly into the present day. At once opulent in its colour scheme and stripped back in its furnishings, this is a quietly stylish, contemplative space.
The double-height ceilings of the kitchen render it impressively lofty, while its stone floors hide beneath them an atmospherically domed wine cellar; the very best of modern Italian design meet its best-loved culinary and wine traditions. Here you will find all you need to prepare some delicious meals for all your party on its luxurious graphite marble countertops.. In the summer, you can wander out of the kitchen and into the outdoor lounge area to enjoy an aperitivo.
The three properties gather around an old courtyard with two beautiful old mulberry trees. This is a great space to set up for outdoor gatherings, but can also act quite simply as welcoming entrance to your home away from home.
Steeped in nature, the outdoor lounge area is sheltered by a stone canopy over which vines climb. Under the wooden-beamed roof you will find a laid back lounge, centered around a vast coffee table and surrounded by incredibly comfortable armchairs, sofas and stools. In the evenings, guests can light the large candles that surround the area for a truly atmospheric, romantic mood. There is also a traditional bread oven here for guest use.
A true highlight of theUmbria design villa, just a few steps down from the lounge you will find the panoramic infinity pool. Overlooking the surrounding rolling hills, this pool stretches out into the lush green garden, dotted with typical plants and trees. Within the grounds you will also find a tennis court and pavilion for private use, alongside the estate’s olive terraces.
Within the exteriors guests can make use of the car port which holds up to three cars.
