Alicudi Secret Retreat | Aeolian Islands
“Perched on the volcanic island of Alicudi, the wildest of the Aeolian Archipelago, this ravishing house will pamper you with its spectacular views over the Mediterranean and its timeless atmosphere”.
This newly-restored Alicudi house has tasteful interiors that stay in touch with the traditions of the island. The house can moreover accommodate 4 people in two double rooms and lies across 2 floors. The lower floor overlooks a large covered terrace and a beautiful Sicilian garden. On this floor you will also find a studio and a traditional Aeolian kitchen with an electric oven and three gas burners. The upstairs houses the sleeping area, with two bedrooms and a large bathroom, overlooking a second panoramic terrace. Although it is newly refurbished, the house has retained a typically Aeolian atmosphere. The finer details include the tiles of the floors and the wood oven (not for use) of the kitchen.
This charming Alicudi house exhibits two stunning terraces. The first terrace features a traditional arched structure and is located in front of the kitchen, downstairs. This terrace also has a dining table and a masonry washbasin typical of the archipelago houses. You will find the second terrace in front of the bedrooms; it boasts stunning sea views. This is thus the place to have a drink at sunset or under the summer stars.
You will find this Alicudi house in a small borgo. It is in close contact with nature, but during high season summer nights you may experience the music coming from the neighbors’ terrace. The house is a 15 minute walk from the small port of Alicudi and the sea.
The island of Alicudi is the smallest and the most remote of the Aeolian Islands. It takes the shape of a volcanic cone and has only a small port, where you will find two grocery stores, a hotel with restaurant, a post office and a few shops. Moreover, not far from the port is the only beach on the island that can be reached on foot. The island has no cars, ATMs, pharmacies, banks, trendy bars nor discos. This is exactly where the charm of Alicudi lies.
